just replaced waterpump on 2000 johnson 90 hp and seems to be too much water coming from sewam between lower housing and upper housing

That's a metal to metal joining surface... yes, it will leak for awhile but will eventually seal with marine debris. Or, you can drop the unit 1/4" or so and squirt in the sealer mentioned below, then tighten it back up again.
