I have a 97 50 hp J50TLEUC. I ordered a new lower unit (OMC). I put the lower unit on and bolting it back together. I hook the shift linkage back at the top and when I tested the forward, reverse and neutral it was all messed up. Is there something I hooked up wrong? Neutral seems like its just past center more in Reverse. Just asking but should I have used my old shift rod? could there have been a difference in length?
