1962 for./rev. gears on prop shaft adjstment?

i have the lower end apart.. moved a center splined spacer on the horizontal shaft by accident and now dont know the distance between the gears on the shaft for verticle alignment..please help!

We dont have a service manual or parts listing on motors older than 1968.
Maybe somone else has a manual that can help you.
