1973 johnson 65 inpeller change

Im new to this forum.... very first post. And I'm changing the water pump impeller and just wondering if anyone could give me some advice on this question.... Do I need to buy the whole impeller kit..... Or can I just change the impeller? I keep looking up parts and always see the whole kit for sale... So just wondering if I need to replace everything.

Wont know what parts are needed until get it apart and see whats bad, if order whole kit then will have all the parts.
