Engine won't run in gear

I have a 2001 250 Johnson. I am having A problem that when I put it in gear the engine shuts off. It runs perfect in neutral. Out of the water it also runs perfect in and out of gear. I already checked for spark And have good spark in all cylinders. Your help would be greatly appreciated I just bought the boat and my first time out already having problems. Boat ran great on the sea trial and has good compression. Lowest cylinder was at 116 and highest was 122.

Varify your carbs are properly synced and adjusted.

Had the carbs rebuilt and synced but gave me no results. Now it won't even stay on in neutral I have to gas it for it to run and sounds like if it has a sputter
