I have a 15 HP Johnson Model number J15RCDE
My Dad gave me this motor, the rewind starter was bad and was off the engine when I got it. There is a red starter pawl with a spring and I'm not sure where or if the long part of the spring anchors/attaches. I'm not describing it very well, but here is a link to the parts diagram. So it would be part 2 in the diagram.
