  • J30 EVLSIA from 2001 loosing power

I try to narrow down my search. The engine runs fairly well when the fuel tank is very full, but after consuming 5 liters or so, it looses power and the rpm's go up and down, and then it finally stops. If I am quick enough I can "pump" it up again and prevent it from stopping. I try to find out if there is a problem with the fuel hose, or tank or if the problem is in the engine.

I got a new fuel hose kit, problem remains. I'd like to rule out external problems before looking into the engine.

Is it at all likely that there can be air leakage in the fuel tank? Has anyone experienced similar problems. Thanks for advice.

Is it the fuel pump? Carburator or what? Have checked the filter and it looks clean.

It is possible that there is an air leak in the fuel pick-up tube (in the tank). There can also be an air leak in the fuel line, however you would smell fuel. If there is a water/fuel separator check to make sure the filter is properly seated. If all is good, start looking to the fuel pump. It is not likely that the carburetors are the problem if it is running out of fuel.

      Thanks,
Question: When you refer to fuel line, you mean inside the cover, right?? And not between tank and engine.

Can be anywhere, from tank to engine or under the cowling. Check all fuel line.
