  • 2000 Johnson Tilt N Trim Oil Leak

I rebuilt my TNT on my 2000 Johnson 50 with all the o-rings except the motor. I am finding that when I go past half down, a lot of air and oil comes out the wiper. Is this normal? My BIL helped me rebuild and he had the piston set up wrong, but I fixed that. Everything else looks right. Is it normal for the oil to come out with air?

The TNT works fine now till too much oil comes out LOL. I am leaving it overnight to see if the air separates from the oil.

Once you have blead the air from the hydraulic system, there should not be any air in the cylinder. However regardless, no air or oil should be coming out of the wiper. This means there is excessive pressure or not properly installed.

My BIL helped me. Maybe the wiper is upside down? Oil shouldn't even get to the wiper, right?

Does anyone have a full schematic of the trim? It's a 2000 Johnson 50.
