I have a 50hp that has fuel leaking from the 'electric primer' out the fogging shaft (choke) when I push in the key to apply fuel to the motor for starting. I checked on the parts and have ordered them, an o-ring, 2 fuel line straps, and the solenoid cover gasket. I'm concered about a fire hazard. It only leaks/squirts when you push the key in and the motor not running. When key is pushed w/mortor running it is only a drop or 2.
Is this a job something I should tackle? I am mechanically savy, have worked on many engines rebuilding and other wise. BUT I have never worked on outboard motors. Is there any 'secret' to changing out this o-ring?
Thanks for your time.
