So I was given a boat last week by my neighbor, great boat he just never bought a motor for it...Anyways, boats not important right now...
I bought a 1968 Johnson 40 model number is Rd-30d. I am confused with how to wire my solnoid to my battery and my boats ignition switch... My solenoid has two fat posts, one on either side, and two smaller terminals in the middle. The left side big terminal has a red 4 gauge wire that goes to my starter. But none of the other posts have anything going to them...
On my boat... It is a 1967 Sea swirl. My boats ignition switch has a cluster of wires running from the back of the switch to the back of my boat... Inside there is a green wire, a white wire, a red wire, a black wire with a white stripe, a plain black wire and a brown wire that doesn't go to anything at my ignition switch its just hanging there with nowhere to connect to...I will post a few pics if I can.
I am guessing I connect my battery to either side of the solenoid on the fat connections and to get power to my solenoid but I do not know what at all to do with the rest of the wires...
Any help is greatly appreciated as I am totally new to outboards...
