1986 Johnson 25 skip/hesitation
Hello, I am looking for some help with correcting a problem that seems to develop when accelerating and decelerating.
The motor starts and runs fine at idle speed or any speed when the throttle is stationary. When accelerating the engine it skips or hesitates like one cylinder may not be firing. When the boat gets up to desired speed or I back off on throttle to maintain the current speed, the engine seems to be running normally. Runs great at WOT.
When decelerating it again seems to skip or hesitate and the engine kind of growls.
I have replaced: spark plugs, fuel pump, hoses, connectors , primer bulb, rectifier hoping to fix the problem.
Looking for some direction to take next
