  • 82 60 HP johnson air in cooling stream

Any help would be appreciated, Thanks.
I have an 82 60 hp with the following problem. On initial start up with throttle up, engine starts fine and water flow is excellent after it is warmed up I push the high idle down when the engine gets to idle speed it seems to have air in the line, sort of intermintently sputters. when the engine is reved up air goes away. I have put in a new waterpump complete with impeller and gasgets, and changed the thermostat. the copper pick up tube is seated in the pump properly, and when i changed the thermostat i ran the engine without the thermostat to flush and be sure there were no forign object in the system, also blew air back through the tell tale tube with lower end off, nothing came out. Compression is 120 top 115 bottom. When engine is warm, after being killed for more than 30 sec. when started only air comes out of tell tale until it is reved up. What am I missing? getting very frustrated, had lower unit off
alot already. thanks for any direction. J60ELCNM
