Driveshaft Removal???

Just finished doing some recent water pump work on my 8hp johnson sailmaster-- My question is why didnt the driveshaft come out from motor when i disconnected the foot from the midsection. Shift rod came out from motor but driveshaft didnt. It dosent feel "frozen" by corrsion either. I NEED driveshaft out of motor to put water pump/Key back together again...

How do I remove driveshaft from motor???

May have to pull engine so can use heat on drive shaft to get unstuck enough to remove it.

sailmaster drive shaft frozen

I am battling mine, the lower unit came off, the drive shaft has not. I replaced the water pump, but can't get it back together. I beat on the drive shaft, torched it, but no luck. Now, I think if I can invent a woodruff key that simply pops up I may get this thing back together.
