I have what the book says is a 1975 135hp outboard johnson. however, i cannot find online that johnson made a 135 during 1975. however to get to the problem. My dad aqquired the boat 2 years ago. at the time. i was in highschool didn't show much interest in the boat up untill 2-3 weeks ago. i charged the battery and tried to start it up. It would not even attempt to turn over. i checked the solonoid and starter and determined the solonoid was bad. so i replaced that. next i noticed the starter (the part of it that goes up and forces the big wheel to turn.( was chipped all the teeth were half the size they should have been. so i ordered those. got it all on. now it atttempted to turn over. i decided to check the spark plugs and one of the the boot just fell off the wire. (please exscuse my bad knowledge of parts and such). i need to order a new not spark plug but the thing that goes over the spark plug. i noticed in all the boots or what ever, it was rusty. if some1 could lead me the right direction i would appreciate it. my dad is looking at giving it away if i cannot get it working. i have time but hte faster the better. i tested so far 2 of the 4 spark plugs by polishing a part of metal and placing it near to see if it arcs and so far 2 of the 4 are good. 1 is in to tight and the other well yeah fell apart. i can post pictures in the morning if needed thanks again.
*edit* also what else would be good to do before i start it up. to my knowledge it was not winterized at all so.
