115 V4 seahorses stalling during maneuvering speeds

I have a 115TLCI which is stalling during maneuvering. It idles rough, but will not stall. Pushing the throttle forward slowly it stalls. If I push the throttle forward quickly and past the slowest position,it will continue running. I have to push through quickly and then pull back on the throttle. Obviously this is problematic while maneuvering. I have the same symptoms regarding reverse. The engine runs rough while in idle and slow speeds. Push the throttle forward into high speeds and the engine purrs like a kitten.

Engine has sat idle for several years(5). Now living on the water again.

That problem is a common one caused by fouled carburetors due to a engine sitting for quite some time. Be sure to manually clean the high speed jets with a piece of single strand steel wire.
