Good morning, I’m new to the Johnson world. I’ve got a 120hp v4 Johnson and it siezed up on me out near the islands and it went bang bang and I quickly shut it off and the fly wheel was then completely locked. So I’ve taken off the heads and losen the fly wheel and determined it’s still live and kicking, but was still grinding at the bottom of the engine where it connects too the top of the shift. I’ve removed lower unit and originaly thought the top of shaft was damaged as it had lots of metal shavings on top of it and the fly wheel was now free spinning, but once cleaned off it looked fine so something is damaged up where the shaft connects any thoughts on how to get to that part? Can I remove leg to get to bottom of engine?
