I have a 59 10 hp johnson outboard. I have been working on magneto for a while and I go to put it back together and the collar that goes on shaft that points make contact with won't stay in place. There seems to be a spring under it and it keeps wanting to work it's way up. Any ideas?

If you're talking about keeping it in place to set the points... cut a piece of plastic pipe to fit over and on it, holding it down with the flywheel nut.

Other than that.... you might arrange the flywheel key to fit tight on it.

FYI, that collar is called a "cam".
