At idle it will not over heat but when I give it some gas it overheats quickly. I put a new impeller in it. When I pull the hose off the back the water coming out seams like it's chugging. Like maby air is coming through. Bad head gaskit??

If you're running on a flushette, the hose must be turned on full force.
If in a barrel/large trash can.... the water must be about 4" higher than the joint where the lower unit meets the long exhaust housing (submerge the water pump).
One the boat, the cavitation plate (plate above prop) should be approximately 3/4" below the keel at the transom.
Head gasket??... Check the compresion. Let us know what you find.
