i have a 1995 johnson 2 stroke, 70hp. there was no spark so i purchased a new power pack. so I'm good there. now the engine turns, great compression, good spark. and the carbs are getting gas. it turned over a few times but would not stay running. i suspected there might fuel pump issues so after speaking with a shop i took out the fuel pump and put in an electronic pump(3lb) wired to a switch. any one have any ideas for it not turning over?

Have some pre-mixed fuel in a spray bottle... spray that directly into the carburetor throats. Does that cause the engine to fire and run a short time?
NOTE: No offense intended here. The terminology of "turn over" pertains to the electric starter turning the engine over and is normally referred to as "cranking" as in "The engine cranks over". If the engine starts and runs... it "fired", started, etc.
Try to use the proper terminology so that we know what you're attempting to explain.
