Battery size for 9.9 J10REL

I'm using a group 24 auto battery as a starter battery for my J10REL, and need a replacement. It's a remote controlled 9.9 long shaft. I use it as a kicker for my Catalina 27 sailboat. So, I'm in a Home Depot and happen to notice Interstate batteries for garden tractors w/250 CCA that say they are good for up to 22 hp — and, it's only $29.95, not $80 or so. Any reason this battery would NOT work for my 9.9 outboard? Anybody already using this type of battery on their small outboard?

Personally I am not using that battery for anything, however that sounds like a good deal to me.

The battery would simply be used to crank the electric starter as the ignition is self contained.

You're leaving off two letters from the end of that model number that would indicate the year!
