    hi guys,i drained the gear case oil and found quite abit of water in it,are there any other seals I need to replace apart from the water pump,i removed the water pump and under that I removed 4 bolts and removed a housing with a oring about 45mm/1 3/4 inch approx. with a bearing on the drive shaft,the diagram I'm looking at I probadly need to replace part numbers 41,43,44,61,im don't know if there are any seals behind the prop and is that easy to get at ,as u can probadly tell I know enough to get myself into trouble,but it something I want to achive and not just put it in the shop to have done,the model number is aj40elcde/serial number a0606979 poss 1986 Johnson. thanks Bruce

    Hey Bruce,
    This is not a deeply complicated repair if you are mechanically competent.

    FIRST - Purchase a Factory/Seloc/Cylmer service manual! It WILL pay for itself during this repair!!

    There are numerous seals AND bearings that will need to be replaced (bearings wear out QUCKLY when lubed by WATER!!).... I get my bearing and seals from my local drive bearing shop..
