  • '58 7.5 HP Johnson AD-12, Fuel pump addition to engine

I am a new member to the Johnson Forum. I have been fishing since I was 3 and that was a long, long time ago. My first outboard was a 1953, 3 HP Evinrude with the fuel tank on top and the engine was rotated to go in reverse. My grandmother gave it to me as a graduation present from high school in 1959. Some no-good scoundrel stole it while I was in college in 1961.

Many years passed and in 1970 I bought a 1958 (I thought it was a '59) 7.5 hp Johnson in Atlanta to use on my Herter's duck and goose boat. it has been the best little engine ever all these years. I have replaced the head once, swapped out the magnetos, and about 1978 or so, I had to replace the starter recoil spring. They just don't make them like they used to.

My son has been using it for a few years, but now I have it back. I don't recall exactly how many years ago (15 maybe ) I was told by a mechanic in a Johnson dealership that there was a fuel pump that could be installed on the engine to replace the 2-line pressurized fuel system. At that time, the fuel line was fairly easy to buy, but now, not so easy, and not so cheap.
Times have changed. Does anyone know of the existence of an add-on fuel pump? Are any available anymore? If so, where might I find one.
Any info would be most appreciated.
    Regards,
    Bassbug
