I have had multiple issues this summer with my 150 Johnson. The VRO was over oiling so I replaced it. Also when I primed the fuel and oil back to the engine I noticed 2 carbs leaking fuel from the air horn on the carb. I rebuilt all six carbs and this solved that problem. Also replaced the needle and seat in the Vapor Control unit. There still was an idle problem after running the engine at 3500-4000 rpm for 20-30 minutes then shutting down and sitting for about a hour or longer. There have been times it would not start until multiple tries. I had a dealer look at it and they found a cam roller worn out on the timing assembly. The engine runs good idling after setting all night or for several days on the flush hose or in the water.
This past weekend I noticed that the water flow indicator was not as strong as it usually is so replace the water pump and thermostats. Also got the hot alarm for the first time. The water pump was 3 yrs old. After the repairs the engine runs fine on idle from cold start. I let it set for about a hour and restarted and it starts and idle for about 2 minutes and shuts down. Also the water flow indicator not spraying as hard but no alarm. I checked the compression last night also and had 90-92 psi with the throttle closed.
If anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated. I'm at a stand still.
Thanks!
