Purchased a new standard ring set for J150stlcdc. All I have is a Seloc service manual to go off of, but it said the acceptable piston ring gap is between .07 and 0.17 in. All of the new rings gapped between .022 and .025 in., which means a pretty significant amount of ring material would need eliminated.
I don't know the history on this engine, but here are the old ring gaps: Top rings were between .025 and .026, and the bottom rings were between. .014 and .017. This would say that these rings were nowhere near spec either. Would any one have a manual to check these specs?
