help with 1968 johnson 20hp model FD-22M

I need to find a gearcase seal for this motor. The kit sierra sent me (#18-2684) seems to small - the rope seal is orange in color and fills the groove in the case only about 3/4 and is not snug.
also should I use indian brand liquid gasket seal with it?
