I've disconnected my VRO, and I have NO thermostat yet after a couple minutes the warning horn starts beeping.
The motor is NOT getting hot.
The "beep beep beep" is coming from behind the dash.
Is the warning horn part of the ignition switch?

VRO oil failure alarm.

VRO tank was highly contaminated.

Somewhere under dash or inside of your controls is the horn. But do not disconnect the horn there as this is also the same warning horn that is your over heat alarm.

Was a costly thing for me, as someone had done that to the motor on the boat I bought. I found the horn was disconnected when I was replacing the handle on my controls. Had taken the boat out several times prior and as soon as I hooked up the warning horn sounded and I discovered the motor was running hot. Replaced water pump, thermostats and cleaned water passages on head covers. I was to late, as the next time I took boat out motor blew. Melted a piston, damage was already done.

There should be a brown wire on your VRO plug I believe if you disconnect just that wire it should prevent the VRO signal. Double check this to make sure as I am not 100% that will work. Just make sure you disconnect at VRO pump as the same wire caries the over heat signal later in the wiring harness to the horn. I reconnected my VRO and have not had any issues after rebuild.
