200 Johnson 1989 stalls
I have a pair of counter rotating 200s, I had own the boat since 1995 and had service and maintain the motors since them. At the present have an issue keeping the engine running at idle, had change all kind of components including: timing base, VRO pump, new spark plugs, check linking and synchronization, timing. no mater what I do it stalls. the compression is around 80 psi in all cylinders. Out of desperation I hire a mechanic with experience, he claim the motor is old and can't create sufficient vacuum at low rpm, I doubt his opinion since at times it run strong. isn't compression a good indicator of the condition of a motor? any suggestion or advise will be grated appreciated. Is there a way to search for post about the same topic?
