Johnson 25 is maddening. Choke question

I have a 2005 25 hp with pull start. It may have any number of things that need tweaking (carb etc) but the thing thats driving me nuts is the choke assembly. There are a series of three tiny 1/16 hoses that run from the choke knob. These have continuously failed. I install new ones and they either spring a leak where connected or sometimes develop a hole right in the middle. Its like they can not take the pressure of sending gas thru when choked so something has to give. Overall looks like a major design flaw.
Engine has always been a bear to cold start. Choking it seems necessary but the hoses can't take it.

Sounds like a primer type choke system? Not real familiar with yours, but if primer pas-sages are restricted it may cause your problems with the lines there.

Are there any check valves (one way valves) in those small lines? Mine has small lines like that, but mine are oil injection lines with check valves?

this is 2005 model, is this 2 stroke, or 4 stroke? I wonder if these small lines are vacuum lines? Just trying to visualize a choke system with these small lines.

Its 2 stroke. I'm not sure if they are vacuum lines. I call them part of the choke assembly because they originate at choke (or primer) knob. They T off from the initial hose into the choke knob. One connects above the carb and one next to the carb. My skillset to figure it out taps out about there.
