1992 johnson temp sensor testing

I took temp sensor out no continuity boiled water to 180 no continuity does that mean it is bad

You should get continuity when placed in hot water, but now sure if your sensor is set at a higher temp then 180, or not. need to look up the part and see what temp it should go off at.
