1977 Johnson 70 hp problems

Hi all, first post here....if there are some threads already pertaining to my issues I would be grateful for any links...Had the boat out once, ran fine albeit a minor lack of normal power, out second time a few days later and the motor would start and die upon putting it into gear. Tried this for about 20 minutes then , to me, it sounded like there was no spark, just strong cranking. Still tuns over fine but does not fire. Any and all help / suggestions / links are appreciated.

Would start with kill switch, it could be killing all spark? after that fuses and electrical on motor itself. It's wise to have a manual for your motor to test the rest of the systems that affect spark.

Post back I'd find anything.
