  • Johnson 30HP Won't Start

Hi all i'm new to the forum and I have a question. 1st let me state I am not a mechanic. Here is my problem. I have a 1993 Johnson 30 HP. Started it up and let it run maybe 10 minutes, motor shut off on it's own and now when I turn the key I get the beep and then nothing, dosen't try to start not even a click. I tested the battery and it's good. No power at the starter. Don't know if I need someone to turn the key to try to start it to test it or not. Was told maybe selonoid? Would that make it shut off on it's own?
    Thanks Dave

The starter solenoid just engages the starter to turn the motor over, unless loose or bad connections at the solenoid, that provide power to other items on motor, I wouldn't think it's your problem. The kill switch, ignition switch, fuses and wire connections/plugs related to powering computer, or magneto, would be the first things to inspect, look at. Also, battery connections.

If motor shut off, is it in neutral, it might not start if still in gear? The neutral switch is another switch that might need to be checked?

Good luck, let us know if you find anything.
