Hi I have a 97 6hp engine with a worn bronze bushing in the now obsolete gear case head part #1in the exploded view, where the stainless steel prop shaft rides next to the seals. I have a lathe and could make a bushing but I am not sure what alloy to use for this application. Any suggestions thanks Jim.

I looked at the parts page, and the housing assy says obsolete, but the bushing didn't say obsolete? Are you looking at the bushing between the prop and housing? Click on the part number you're looking for, it should list all motors that part was used on (both evinrude & Johnsen). If you google that part number with it's name, you might find some available, just make sure it has a pic, and part # is same.
