  • tilt and trim 99 150 johnson ocean pro.

The main shaft on the tilt was leaking.

I replaced the top casting that has three seals and removed the bottom nut and casting to change the entire unit out.

Once I put it all back together. the trim operates real slow and if I stop running it up, it slowly goes back down. When the time comes for the Tilt to take over nothing happens. Motor is new Fluid is full.

    Help

I removed the manual over ride piston. And there is only one "O" ring on it. I think there is supposed to be two. ANd if there is one missing where did it go????

Has anyone taken the manual over ride piston out or replaced the o ring or rings?

I raised and lower over and over to make sure there was no air in the system and there was not any air in it.

It would go up but then go back down and it would only trim but not tilt at all.

OK got it fixed here is what I found out. The manual release has a rubber tip and only one "o" ring at the end.

The ball bearings used for fluid control on bottom piston are .125" there was some crud holding one of those open I believe. Bought four new balls and used them and that seemed to do the trick.

I also disassembled the pump itself. I would not do this unless you really really have to. There are a lot of valves and ball bearings. So take it apart slowly and have it vertical.
