My forward gear went out on my 25hp Johnson so I opted to purchase another motor for parts. It is a 1999 Johnson. Wanted to see if someone could give me a few pointers on swapping to lower units. What are the crucial steps that need to be taken into consideration. As of now the only steps I know of is to undo shift link followed by the four bolts holding casing on and it should drop down.
