OK, so I screwed up replacing my starter, well replacing the starter was no problem, the mistake came in hooking up all the electrical wires back on the solenoid. To get to the point of my error. The power lead for the rectifier (P/N 586075) was in a black shrink wrap so I just assumed it was a ground wire and grounded it. When I put the battery cables back on there was a good amount of smoke. I pulled the cables off right away, said a couple of things, then started to find the crossed wire. The only wire that was incorrect was the direct + power to the rectifier (which I grounded). I'm assuming I fried the rectifier. I took it out of the motor and want to bench test it. From I can tell all I need is a ohm meter (I have) and it will show an open. Problem is across what wires. It has one connector with 2 yellow wires, another connecter with a purple wire and a gray wire, then the lone power red wire. Again Johnson P/N 586075
