  • Alarm Sound from throttle Control? Please Help!

    I have a 1977 Glastron SSV 188 with a Johnson 140hp Outboard motor (model number: 140TL77S)

Today I went to run my boat with the hose (fresh water) hooked up to just maintain the boat. I got it started up and everything seemed to be fine but then a loud alarm came from the throttle control area (buzzing sound). I then turned it off and tried turning in to the on position and the alarm resumed (didn't crank over the motor). After waiting a while I stared it again and the alarm did not go on, but after it was running for a few minutes the alarm resumed. Can someone help me figure out why and what its for and how to fix it.

    Thank you

Sounds like the "hot" alarm. Did you have the muffs on the engine properly? Did you have the spigot turned on enough? Worn waterpump? Stuck thermostat? Bad temp sending unit switch? When and where was the last time you ran the motor when the alarm did not go off?

      Thank you,

I believe the water pump went out.

I need to replace it an that should solve the problem.
