Hi guys. I'm really hoping someone can shed some light on an issue I'm having with my 1995 Johnson fast strike 115. The motor has been running great and will turn about 5500ish rpm's at WOT. a couple months ago I noticed that the engine seemed to "slip" at WOT almost as if the prop lost its grip but the rpm's stayed constant and and never backed down. I didn't pay a lot of attention to it but I've noticed it more often now. At high rpm's the boat has a small skip as if someone were to push you from behind but like I said the rpm's don't change at all. The boat actually runs fantastically at 4000-4500 rpm's. I haven't changed out props or how it's trimmed out so that shouldn't be an issue. If this helps, it seems like at WOT, the prop stops thrusting however the engine and rpms never change. The only issue I have noticed with the lower unit is it has a small leak ( I'm thinking the hub seal is going bad) and I'm changing my lower unit oil twice per season now just to make sure not a lot of water is in there. I noticed the last time i changed it, it was cloudy because of some water in there. Anyone have any thoughts on what could be wrong and advice on fixing it?
