  • 1995 Johnson50/35Jet Carb/Fuel pump

7 yrs ago had VRO disconnected. So I premix gas/oil.Have'nt had boat out for about 3yrs.Filled 6 gal tank w/fresh premixed gas plus 6oz.Sea Foam.Fired motor up idled good, but would not run wide open. But if I held the choke in at the key motor ran good.Figured I needed carb's rebuilt.I took it to a mech.who rebuilt them.He told me that he found some black rubbery pieces in carb's and that fuel pump may need to be replaced. After having carb's rebuilt, motor would ilde good, but would not run much faster than about 5mph.I tried pushing choke in at the key, boat would die.Normal speed wide open is around 30 mph.Someone please give me a idea where to start.Which manual should I buy ect.Going to try this on my own.If fuel pump does need replacing,do I need the VRO or is there a diffrent one since VRO has been disconnected? Model #J50JEO Never have worked on a outboard before so any and all info would be apprectiated. Thanks

If he didn't find where the rubber was coming from and resolve it then may have more trash in carbs again. ayou would have to remove carbs to see if still getting trash in them.
You can order manuals at Evinrude
