hello all, New here. I have a jw-10 3 horse outboard that is giving me fits. I have rebuilt the carb, cleaned the gas tank, new plugs, changed the impeller, and changed the lower unit oil. It has good spark on both cylinders but is hard to start. Once it does start it runs for a while and sputters out. Water appears to be coming out of the tell-tail but the head is getting hot. To hot to touch. When the engine sputters out and dies it locks up(pull starter won't pull). I have to remove the pull starter unit and use a screw driver to manually turn the engine over, then the pull starter will work until it dies the next time. Something is not right and I'm getting frustrated. I don't want to hurt the engine, but I don't want to spend a fortune only to have it not work...
The motor had the same issues before I started working on it. I haven't hurt the engine but I haven't helped it either.
The carb is also leaking gas from the bowl(around the drain screw?). It was leaking before and after the carb rebuild. I've had this little carb apart multiple times. Everything is clean.
Advice Please,
Chris
