Shift Shaft Adjustment

Can anyone tell me what the proper shift shaft adjustment for a 1996 115 Fast strike is? I purchased a used 2003 Rude Fitch gearcase and the shift rod is either longer or way out of adjustment. I have this Clymer Manual and its wrong. I've seen 21 1/4 and 21 5/16 which is correct? Thanks in advance

I have a Seloc manual but only goes to 1991 115hp.That length is 21.84 in. If you have a 25 inch gear case add 5 inches.
