run and stop

90 hp johnson.runs good for 1hr to 2 hr.then will not start,or idle.can not get in gear and power.wait about 30 min.starts and runs fine. repeats problem again.flushed fuel tank added a fuel filter.changed power pack.new plugs.oil is full.battery is charged.could this be a rectifer or a stator.or may be a bad fuel pump.any way to test rectifer and stator.thanks for any help i can get.

If pumping primer bulb gets it running then could be fuel pump or fuel delivery problem. If it has no spark at plugs then could be a stator problem or other ignition component bad. Might try removing and clean carbs.

Does the motor shut off while running or will it not start after running and shut down, if so check the vapor seperator,did this start happening after going to ethanol fuel? They say ethanol boils out of the fuel bowl when shut down due to the carb location to the back of the crank case. Heat

thanks for info.going to clean carbs . if thats not it . try the vapor serarator.any ideas how to check that. also going to check fire.etc.did not make any difference pumping fuel primer.thanks
