That would oil alarm, try pumping primer bulb on oil hose, if keeps doing then its VRO pump.

I'm having a very similar issue.
ok, from the top - I have a 1993 Johnson (Tracker) 40hp TJ40ELETB.
I've cleaned and flushed the VRO tank, installed new filet, bulb and hose.
Had the carbs rebuilt and now after running it for about 2 to 3 minutes I get a "beep beep beep". After doing ALOT of searching I know this is an oil alarm.
I'm getting smoke out the exhaust and it has the distinctive oil smell, si I know it's getting oil (at least SOME).
I also know that the fuel pump also draws the oil so, could the punp be headed south and drawing gas but not enough oil? Or could a faulty connection in the VRO wiring be sending a bad signal to the alarm?
I'm grasping at straws here I know but its driving me crazy.
