1966 johnson 80 hp lower gear case getting water in it

Just bought this boat took it out one time and there is kind of a white foam coming out of the seal between the lower and upper gear case I drained the oil it was a dark grey color? what is the suggested oil type and quantity so I can change and have a clean slate to compare to?

You can go to Walmart and buy a quart of oil for that ,will have a tip to go in fill hole. If you're getting foam out where you said you probably should get a new seal kit for it. I'm doing the same thing to my 33 now. If oil can get out water can get in. But I'm certainly no expert.
