1980 15 hp johnson pinion gear slipping

I bought this motor from a guy not too long ago. It runs fine ( needs carb work) but I have replaced 2 pinion gears on the recoil pull start system. They seem to be stripping out on the flywheel. Do they make stronger ones? Can I fix this? Or is it just something I have to deal with? If you need pics to know what im talking about just let me know.

Thats only gear available, check that it is meshing with flywheel correctly something may be bent.
