  • Q? Broken Bolt

    I'm replacing the water tube in a 1999 200hp. J200PLEEB

I was able to remove the powerhead, exhaust housing, exhaust adapter and the inner exhaust housing without breaking anything.

Feeling confident and having purchased (from Boats.net) the "Gasket, (water) plate to adapter" 0343809 (hedging...thinking it was necessary) I figured while I'm there I'll replace that gasket also.

I broke one of four of the bolts holding the water plate cover 333565 onto the water plate. The cover it still attached with the three remaining frozen bolts. This cover seems to be on the return side of the water flow and it has a small drain hole in it so I'm thinking with no pressure behind it it should be okay with just three.

Also there's a small piece of gasket that was folded across a span that broke off when I unfolded it. I don't think that was actually doing anything in that location anyway.

I attached two photos of the issues.

    Any thoughts?

It might be ok, hard to say.
