New to me engine, 115 Johnson. Model J115VLSIF, Ser.#Go4887954, Man. Date 06/2000.
Questions: Is this considered a 2001 model year?
What plugs/gap should I use? Hard to find a cross reference using model #.
Previous owner was using Merc. Premium oil, should I switch oils, which one? Using 50:1 mixture seems to smoke a bit more than I think it should??

Yes it's a 2001 model, use Champion QL78YC plugs.
Use 50:1 oil mix and can use Merc oil or Evinrude XD50 oil.
