  • 1999 Johnson 150 HP No Oil Alarm - Please Help

On my 1999 150 hp Johnson outboard I am getting a No Oil Alarm.
So I replaced the Fuel/Oil pump with a new one but after change out still getting alarm on new pump. Yes I primed / filled the oil supply hose using the primer bulb before connecting back to new pump. I even cut back the hoses a bit to make sure I had a tight fit on each one. Still getting No Oil Alarm
To make sure the supply tank was not the problem, I then drained and checked out my oil reservoir, the tank bottom and screen on the oil supply were very clean.
I removed the oil supply line and installed a clear plastic 1/4” tubing filled with 2 stroke oil and the oil was pulled into the pump when the engine was running but still the No Oil alarm did not clear.
Please Help I do not know what to do next, Could the oil sensor on the new pump be bad or am I missing something?
Anyone have any suggestions? No sure what to do next..

Sounds like the alarm circuit is grounded somewhere causing the alarm to activate. Check you manual should be a tan wire with a different color stripe on it. That controls the alarm, somewhere that is grounded.

    hope this helps

Thanks for the advice. I appreciate the input. I was unable to find anywhere the wire might be grounded but most of the wiring harness is not accessible to check so I ended up draining the oil reserve tank and plugging the oil supply hose then disconnected the Low Oil and the No Oil alarm connections. I’m going to just premix oil with the gas 50:1. I didn’t want to try to do tackle pulling the wiring harness to find where it might be grounded. Maybe after the summer is over I’ll give it another try as I really do like the ease of the automatic oil injection
      thanks again for your reply
