  • 1999 Johnson 130 swivel pin or pivot point lubrication

    so.....
over the weekend , I was working on my boat that has a 1999 Johnson 130 on the back. its been sitting for the better part of about 6-8 mos and I wanted to get it tuned up and do a few things to it before I start using it regularly this season. I noticed that the steering was super tight and would take Popeye to steer this thing in the water!!!!. So I disconnected the steering cable shaft from the motor where it would connect to the steering arm, making sure that the steering at the steering wheel was free and it was. Now, I grabbed the motor to see if it would pivot nice and freely and it does not.......SO now my dilemma is HOW do I get this motor to move back and forth freely and/or how would/do I lubricate the swivel pin or pivot points on this??

ANY AND ALL SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE GREATTLY APPRECIATED!!!!

Use a heat gun to apply some heat to swivel arm bushing. squirt oil on top bushing and work steering arm back and forth.

You just need enough heat on it to loosen up the grease. You don't want to melt the plastic bushing.
