hey I recently bought a motor at a yard sell to restore it had the foot off and a box full of parts with a bad reversing gear and no pinion gear. to make a long story short I ordered a new foot off ebay and was pleased with what i got except the shift linkages are diffrent. both the one from the foot and the one from the engine extend from the mating surfaces several inches. I am a machinist and I know I can (make it work) but I was wondering if anyone has done this in the past. I really want to use the foot I bought from ebay because the other one is missing several of the linkage components. Was thinking if all else fails I will cut the two linkages notch them with a die grinder, then make a bushing with two set screws. any other info or ideas would be greately appreciated.
