Lower Unit

I have a 15HP; Model No J15RLCSD; Serial No A659844
How do you disconnect the shift lever? I need to service the water pump.
The manual gives various alternatives but am unable to see my motor!

Drop lower unit down a little and can get to clamp on shaft.
